Bonjour • Hello
Welcome to Au fil de mes balades.
I started this blog as a way of keeping in touch with friends in Canada while living in France. I had graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts in French & Linguistics in 2008, & decided I needed to go live in France again before going back to school. (Yes, again. I'd lived there previously as an exchange student).
After blowing all my money on a grad trip to Australia and Thailand with my best friend, I spent the summer saving to move to France & boarded a plane Oct 12, 2008. I started this blog Oct 14, 2008.
Since then I've moved home to Calgary, moved to Montreal to complete a certificate in Translation Studies, moved back to Calgary again, joined the workforce, & recently married on August 24, 2014.
Much like me, my blog is entirely random. I post about the things I love & want to share, which encompasses many things: Travel, Food, Photography, Fitness, Love... I share my recipes, adventures, & glimpses of my daily life.
lans, lansi, lala, alan, ali, banana, avocado, Atlanta...
Inspired by my life in France - balader means to wander, walk, or ramble in French. A "balade" has no finite destination, just like most of my endeavors, & much of my travels.
To say I love food is an understatement. I LOVE food. I've been told I'm obsessed. Some of my favourites are lamb, salmon, sashimi, & bacon.
Running, hiking, CrossFit, travel, cooking, eating, reading, water sports, photography, writing.
Red wine with meals. Beer at all times, especially craft Beer.
my guilty pleasure:
Watching the Biggest Loser while eating something naughty. Taco Time. Deep fried potatoes.
Excuses, paying for parking, the use of a letter to represent an entire word (u, ur).
